A common mole, or melanocytic naevi, is a coloured spot on the skin that when cells called melanocytes grow in clusters. Although common moles may be at birth, they appear later in and during teenage years – most adults usually have 10 and 40 on their body. During pregnancy, moles often get darker and they can fade away completely from around the age of 50.

Methods of mole removal

How to best look after your moles

Sun is the main cause of skin cancers, so your skin from the sun is crucial for skin health. advise to avoid direct sun exposure between 11am and 3pm on sunny days, and to wear in addition to using sunscreen regularly.
